Inside the Artist's Studio: Karen Robert of Aux Abris
Ever wondered what it takes to bring a wallcovering to life? In this studio tour, Karen Robert, founder of Aux Abris, opens the doors to her new 6,500 square foot space and walks us through every step of how it all comes together.
From the sample department (the backbone of the whole operation, where every yard sold means a yard given away) to the storage rooms full of vinyl substrates and rag papers, to the production floor where printers hum along on everything from grass cloth murals to gold leaf, Karen shows what a working studio really looks like.
Along the way, she introduces the team who make it happen and shares a bit about her own journey: ten years in, from a daylight basement to a full studio, still a maker at heart and still driven by the idea of doing things differently.
Have a look inside.
