Sustainable Design: Earth Day Edition

Sustainability is always important and to celebrate Earth Day, we put together a few quick ideas of how to make good decisions for your clients AND the environment.

Recycled Fabrics

Each time we are at a vendor show, our industry partners are showing more and more recycled fabrics.  The feel and the designs are not to be believed. And they can all be protected. Win-win.

Recycle Furniture

Using a client’s own furniture keeps things meaningful, and out of landfills. Faux finishers can get the exact color and look you are going for. Think of grandma’s chairs refinished in a new modern fabric or consider a perfectly shaped armoire refinished and given new hardware – simple changes can be environmentally friendly and beautiful.

Environmentally Friendly Paint

We all know a coat or two of paint can change the entire feel of the room. Choosing an environmentally friendly paint (such as one with low VOC’s) is also important. Look for products that, like Fiber-Seal are GreenGuard Gold certified.

Fiber-Seal

Fiber-Seal’s protection + concierge spot cleaning services keeps fine furnishings looking newer, longer. So not only does it help your designs stand the test of time, it keeps furnishings out of landfills. And our most popular products are GreenGuard Gold certified, meaning they meet the stringent chemical emissions standards, ensuring fewer pollutants and healthier indoor air quality. They have to, we use Fiber-Seal in our own homes.
